Driving up to the stadium you could see a sea of people in lines wrapped around the building patiently waiting to get inside to celebrate this moment in history. It was a melting pot of different ethnicities, backgrounds, and ages. People were in line wearing there Kamala shirts and hats smiling and drinking water to keep hydrated in the hot Houston weather.

When you walked into the stadium it was like a big block party as you saw a big stage and screens that read “Vote for reproductive freedom.”At that very moment, you could tell that this topic was going to be the focus of the night. As the DJ played a party mix with a lot of songs by special guest Beyoncé people were dancing in the aisles ready to see her appear alongside Vice President Kamala Harris.

Jessica Alba opened the night with a very effective speech and throughout the night many doctors and politicians told their stories about how they were personally affected by reproductive issues and rights. The night went on and Beyoncé's mother, Tina Knowles, took the stage to tell us about her journey as a mother, voting growing up, and how she was so proud of her city of Houston and her daughters. She then announced her daughter Beyoncé and Kelly Rowland to the stage. The crowd goes crazy as “Independent Women” plays across the speakers. Bey and Kelly walk out holding hands to center stage as the crowd shook the building. Kelly emotionally started her speech by touching on many topics about how important it was to vote and how it affects all of us and her love for Houston and Kamala. Beyoncé then took the mic to say her own speech speaking on many topics and reminiscing on their childhood growing up in Houston. A special moment was when she shouted out her hood and many different areas within Houston with a roll call stressing the fact that she was just like us. She didn’t come that night to be a celebrity she came to represent being a mother and voter she said. After Beyoncé ended her speech, she announced the lady of the night, Vice President Kamala Harris. Kamala lifted the room up with hope. A feeling this nation has been missing for a while. This night was a moment in history not just for the lineup of speakers and performers but for the feeling it gave Houston and people around the nation a feeling of positivity and hope for the future.
