Teenear Shares Inspiration Behind Debut Album ‘Never Met A Me,’ and What’s Next For 2025

Slip-N-Slide Records

Singer-songwriter and Miami native, Teenear, released her formal introduction to her fans with her debut project Never Met A Me. Her debut dropped in June which includes a feature from Rick Ross on “Moment” as well as 11 other tracks that embody confidence, feminity, and staying true to oneself.

Teenear made her first introduction into the music industry almost a decade ago with her debut single “Friday Night” which featured a guest verse from Sage the Gemini. Since then, Teenear has been crafting her own sounds leading her to her 2016 signage to the legendary Slip-N-Slide Records. The label is known for producing high-quality Miami-based artists such as Trina, Trick Daddy, and more by embracing their unique sound which falls right into Teenear’s path.

In her conversation with Beyond The Record, Teenear revealed that Never Met A Me was not her first choice in an album name but now the title represents her introductory era.

“Honestly, that whole project happened within a time span of a few years,” she said, adding, that coming to find the name of the project was an “interesting journey.”

“At first it was a completely different title but then the team was like ‘Teenear that makes no sense,’” she says laughing. “Because I wanted it to be called ‘The Fantas-Tee,’ and we were trying to figure out how to spell it but it looked like ‘Fan-nasty.’”

In the end, Teenear and her team decided that Never Met A Me was a better fit for the project.

Never Met A Me made sense too because it is an introduction to myself. There were a lot of different experiences I went through in each of those songs so that was the whole scope of it and the message that I wanted to get across,” she said
“Stay Home" was the first standout single from the album which charted at #1 on Apple Music's "Emerging R&B Songs." The lead single was followed by “Moment” with Rick Ross and “Respect.”

What’s Next For Teenear In 2025?

Teenear revealed that she has more visuals in the works as well as renditions of songs on her project. The singer started a studio performance video series on YouTube called The Setlist which will showcase Teenear’s powerhouse vocals. She released the first episode in her series focusing on a staple song in her discography, “Come See Me.”

Never Met A Me is out now on all streaming platforms. You can watch the full interview with Teenear on Beyond The Record below:
