Four Potential Landing Spots for Blake Griffin
Blake Griffin's time in Detroit appears to be coming to an end. On Monday afternoon, Adrian Wojnarowski reported the team agreed to keep Griffin out of the lineup while they work with his team to figure out his immediate future. Presumably, that future does not include suiting up for the Pistons again.
We love hypotheticals so here are four potential landing spots for Blake…
4 Miami Heat
The Miami Heat have struggled this year. The team is lacking the talent and depth to compete with teams. Last season average players were over acheving in the bubble and it’s beginning to show. Blake to Miami will give them additional depth. Blake is not who he once was but he has developed a three-point shot and could help stretch the floor.
3 Los Angles Lakers
Blake would love to move back into his home in LA so I'm sure he is begging to be traded to LA. With Anthony Davis injured, Blake could come to the Lakers and provide needed help in the frontcourt. The move to LA would put no pressure on Blake to produce, I.e. Dion Waiters to the Lakers last season.
2 Dallas Mavericks
KP and Griffin would have been a dream duo in the frontcourt a couple of seasons ago but now that it is actually a possibility, I am not as excited. I will be honest, I am a Dallas Mavs hater due to the NBA’s love for Luka (he is an incredible talent) so I do not want them to get a piece that could help them get to the playoffs; however, the move and fit makes all the sense. Blake can instantly provide a roster that lacks talent outside, of their stars, a player who can score and rebound.
1 Charlotte Hornets
The absolute perfect fit for Blake is the Hornets. I read a crazy stat that said Blake has not dunked the basketball this season. When I heard that, I knew Blake was not trying. Seeing Lamelo throw lobs to Blake is exactly what the NBA needs. MJ hit on Gordon Hayward when everyone called him crazy. Maybe Blake can go to the Hornets and find his love for basketball again, something that looked like he was missing in the Motor City.
