Lowkey R&B X Zeina Interview
Lowkey R&B had the chance to sit-down with Brooklyn-born, Montreal raised, RnB artist, Zeina.
We talked about her background, her new song, and music video, “Teach”, and what we can expect next. We also got to play a game to know the RNB singer a little better, #RichGirl$ummer.
Can you let us know a little bit about your background and how you got started in the industry?
I started out in med school but I wasn’t really passionate about it, so I quit. I started just roaming the streets to find people in the music industry because I’ve always been passionate about music. Ended up moving to LA around summer 2016, met producers and just started to put my work out.
Did anything specific inspire you to write “Teach”?
That song is just something that I haven’t tapped into yet, it’s a very sexual song. I talk about communication in bed because I think that’s very important.
Do you have a special writing process?
I think it’s different for every song, sometimes I start with lyrics, melodies etc. For Teach specifically I just got inspired from a bad sexual experience (laughs).
Do you have a favorite lyric or verse from the song?
I do like a lot of the stuff I did say but I think, “Don’t be cute, be nasty.” I also like “Give me BDE, and imma buss it open” because it’s necessarily about size and s**t it’s just about the energy you give off.
What was your favorite part of shooting the music video?
I really loved embodying women in my videos, like my gang, my crew all of that. I liked the blue scenes when I’m in the bedazzled top and I’m all wet it was so fun to shoot because I just got to escape.
What new project can we look out from you next?
I’m going to just keep dropping music, I’m going to be dropping a new song soon. It’s what I love to do and I’ve held back from big releases before but now that I’m back into it I just want to keep dropping.
