Houston was treated to an unforgettable evening of soul, R&B, and musical excellence as Gladys Knight, Stephanie Mills, Patti LaBelle, and Chaka Khan shared the stage for one incredible night. Presented by the Black Promoters Collective, the concert celebrated four legendary women whose music continues to inspire generations.
The evening opened with the incomparable Gladys Knight, who was also celebrating her 82nd birthday. Taking the stage with elegance, grace, and undeniable star power, Knight immediately captivated the audience. Backed by a phenomenal band that brought plenty of funk and energy, she opened with “Love Overboard” and took fans on a journey through some of the most beloved songs in her catalog.
Her vocals were exceptional throughout the set and her energy never wavered. Whether delivering heartfelt ballads or upbeat classics, Knight reminded everyone why she remains one of the greatest voices in music history. It felt especially meaningful knowing the crowd was celebrating her birthday alongside her.
Stephanie Mills kept the momentum going as she hit the stage with incredible energy. Surrounded by her band and background vocalists dressed in matching jackets, including her son among the performers, Mills brought a spirit of joy and celebration that filled the venue.
One of the standout moments of her set came during “I Have Learned to Respect the Power of Love” when she gave each of her background singers an opportunity to showcase their talent with individual solos. Mills continued delivering hit after hit while dancing across the stage. At one point she proudly told the audience she is 69 years old and still loves to dance, encouraging everyone to party with her. The crowd happily obliged. She closed her performance with “Home,” bringing the audience to its feet in a powerful and emotional moment.
The evening also included remarks from Houston controller Chris Hollins, who greeted the crowd and helped celebrate the significance of bringing these iconic artists together in the city.
Patti LaBelle’s arrival brought another level of excitement to the night. Dressed in all red with a fresh hairstyle and stunning heels, LaBelle commanded the stage from the moment she appeared. Her performance blended powerhouse vocals, comedy, audience interaction, and heartfelt tributes.

As anticipation built for Chaka Khan, fans eagerly awaited the final performance of the evening. Before taking the stage, Khan introduced her latest single and music video, “Chakzilla,” giving fans a glimpse into her current creative chapter.

Her set featured classic hits including “Tell Me Something Good,” “Sweet Thing,” “Through the Fire,” “I Feel for You,” and “I’m Every Woman.” With her signature voice and commanding stage presence, Khan reminded everyone why she remains one of the most influential artists in R&B and funk history.
She closed the night with “Ain’t Nobody,” sending the Houston crowd home singing along to one final classic.
