Last Week Was Lit XLIV

Drake sigh. I got the results back from my COVID antibodies test, and I too had the RONA. Please note the bold, italicized and underlined word, had. I had taken the regular COVID test prior and tested negative. I’m thankful to have been relatively asymptomatic. In case you haven’t been paying attention to the news coming out of the great nation of Florida—I have personally kicked Florida out and replaced it with Puerto Rico—these cases aren’t going away. Wear a mask. Wash your hands. Be safe. There are way more Last Week Was Lit columns to come and you need to be around to read them.

The new rules are as followed: we have each day of the week from last Sunday to yesterday—the 5th to the 11th—and we pick one story and maybe an Honorable Mention. There’s a Song of the Week which is sponsored by Slamma 2 Gramma and a Shout Out of the Week sponsored by Unapologetically Me.

Honorable Mention:

Spot the lie though

MONDAY, JULY 6

WELP

  • Are the old viruses we heard about in our Social Studies textbooks planning a big Throwback Thursday reunion appearance?
  • Also, why? Like, why is this happening? Why this year? Why not in 2021 or 2030?
  • Between COVID and now this, I would say this would look bad on China but then again we are the country that voted for Donald Trump so I don’t think I should be the one to cast this stone. For those wondering, I have the Not Top 3 rankings as America, Florida and China.

TUESDAY, JULY 7

Checkmate NFL

  • As a way to point out that I was on the right side of this all along, I plan to continue to show all the ways Kaepernick has bossed up on the NFL since his blackballing began.
  • I will say I am happy that it did not take decades for Kaep to be deemed a hero for his actions, and while it came in a manner no one would’ve wanted, the fact that the aftermath is the understanding of his initial protest and his stubbornness to stay away brings this home wonderfully.
  • As always, I’m still with Kap

WEDNESDAY, JULY 8

More info on future President Yeezy’s platform…?

  • I have a complicated relationship with President Yeezy. I will always have adoration for the producer Kanye and his first few albums represent a run very few musicians have been able to pull off.
  • But I’m all set on hearing anything come out of Kanye’s mouth. When he donated money to the family of George Floyd, it was great because he did it without saying a word. Is it possible for him to run without managing to utter a single word?
  • Ultimately, this has to actually be a rollout for another album I don’t want. Yuck.

THURSDAY, JULY 9

Where am I going to get Sazón now?
