Teenear Demands ‘Respect’ In New Music Video

R&B singer Teenear knows her worth -- and is adding tax. The Miami native has released a visualizer for “Respect” which is found on her debut album Never Met A Me. In the song, Teenear exudes confidence when she demands how she wants to be treated. The singer proclaims how she is not letting a man -- or anyone for that matter -- not show the utmost consideration and admiration for her.

The melodic tune and braggadocious tone from Teenear are reminiscent of an alter ego or inner thought that knows when someone is not treating you as you should.

“Put some respect on it I did the work, put the check on it Yeah yeah Put some respect on it You know my worth, and that’s a definite Yeah yeah,” Teenear sings in the chorus.

The visual encompasses solo shots of the singer on a balcony as well as highlighting recent accomplishments such as her Never Met A Me listening party, walking the red carpet at the BET Awards, performance at On The Radar, and more. As she does her solo shots confidently unveiling the beauty of her surroundings on the Miami streets, she recites the lyrics “got a frost my neck I’m takin nothing less” signifying that she is very much capable of maintaining herself and is deserving of everything she desires.

She ends the visual with a note to her supporters: “Put some respect on it. You know my worth, and its definite,” she writes, quoting lyrics from the song. “Thank you guys so much for all your support so far. This is truly just the beginning.”

Teenear spoke to Uproxx and shared what the album encompasses at this stage of her life.

“It’s me finally standing in the essence of who I truly am, and it represents what I feel like is my bigger purpose right now. The music – it exudes confidence. It’s for the girls, it’s for the lovers, it’s for the hard workers… It’s for the ones that truly know how to feel.”

Never Met A Me arrived in June and includes 12 tracks with a guest feature from Rick Ross on “Moment.” The album is available on all streaming platforms.
