New York Knicks Weekly Review: Consistency?

SEASON RECORD: 8-10

WEEK RECORD: 3-2

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Even though Julius Randle shined brightly in his performances last week, I have to give the title of Player of the Week to someone else. Number 9, the man who managed to carve out a name for himself while playing with Zion Williamson… RJ Barrett. He struggled against the Trail Blazers but in the other three games, he dazzled, averaging 23.6 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists. If RJ Barrett can continue at this rate the Knicks can consistently win and close out games.

PERFORMANCE OF THE WEEK

The Performance of the Week goes to another person from one of the blue bloods of college basketball. THE LEGEND HIMSELF IMMANUEL QUICKLEY — aka the steal of the 2020 NBA Draft — was one of the lone highlights in the loss to Portland. He scored 31 points in only 24 minutes, on 5/8 shooting from three. Every week, the former Kentucky Wildcat grows more comfortable with the NBA game and shows the skills to be an efficient scorer. The future looks bright for our team.

SUMMARY

After hitting rock bottom last week, we were able to bounce back. The Knicks knocked off Wardell and the Warriors but had a rough schedule as they played the Kings the very next night. The Knicks are playing good basketball but need to work on being able to show their improvements consistently instead of in spurts. Obi Toppin needs to match the energy Immanuel Quickley plays with. There can be no night off for any player on the Knicks, in order to contend for a playoff spot every game needs to have that level of intensity and urgency.
