New York Knicks Weekly: GET WELL SOON MITCH.
SEASON RECORD
13-15
Week record: 2-2
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
19.3 points, 11.6 Rebounds, and 3 assists. Again we are here discussing the greatness of Julius Randle. Julius Randle keeps showing up every night. He no longer has to run the offense as a point guard because now he has help—D Rose. His play hasn’t diminished but there are people on the team such as Derrick Rose and Quickley who step up and help him out on a nightly basis. Julius Randle is also not known for being a major defensive treat, but every night since his resurgence he has put everything on the line. He plays hard on defense and is an offensive nightmare for his matchup. The Knicks have hit the lottery with Randle, only paying the franchise player 20 Million a year. Julius Randle is currently a top 5 power forward in the league, no question— outside of AD, Giannis, and Kevin Durant there is no power forwards better than him.
PERFORMANCE OF THE WEEK!
This week's performance of the week goes to somebody who is probably one of the best young centers in the league. Mitchell Robinson. In the game in which Robinson was injured, only playing 20 minutes, he dropped 10 points and 14 rebounds. Mitchell Robinson is comparable to a player such as Rudy Gobert. The Utah Jazz do not pay Rudy to be some offensive juggernaut, they pay him for his defensive presence. I always said that the road to success for the Knicks goes through Mitch. He doesn’t need to score 20 points a game. Teams have to game plan how to score with Mitch on the floor. Every night he plays excellent defense. He anchors the Knick’s defense which is one of the best defenses in the league. The crazy part of all of this is that he is only 22 years old!!!!!
SUMMARY
The acquisition of Derrick Rose has brought much-needed leadership and guidance to the Knicks backcourt. Derrick Rose seems to be mentoring Quickley who has been playing great and Elfird Payton is also playing a lot better. The Knicks are still trending in the right direction. The team just has to work out the tweaks to make us better. Unfortunately, the person who anchors our defense Mitch Robinson is injured and will be out for 4-6 weeks with a broken hand. We wish him a speedy recovery. The Knicks will need someone to step up and fill that defensive hole and make up for the 10 plus rebounds that Mitch would grab on a nightly basis.
