What You Expect Sits Down With OBAS
Connecticut doesn’t seem to get any recognition within the hip-hop community, however, there is talent there. Among that talent is OBAS (Only Believers Achieve Success), which reigns from Danbury, Connecticut. His latest track is “Hug The Streets Remix” featuring Rick Ross.
Beginning his professional career in 2005, OBAS first made a name for himself on the Connecticut battle rap circuit. After sharpening his skills in the battle circuit, OBAS decided to focus on his artistry. Like his early influences, Scarface, Biggie, and Tupac, OBAS uses personal experiences to connect with the listener. When describing his process, OBAS elaborated, “If you give me about an hour of your time, I’m gonna sit down and tell you my story. I’m gonna tell you the pitfalls of what happened to me and when you leave here you can make the decision to do what I did or you can do better.”
The Haitian-American MC sat down to talk about his come-up in the game, linking up with Rick Ross, and his experience with the late Nipsey Hussle, among other things. Check out the full conversation out now on YouTube.
