Charlie Vox Talks "Intentions", RHOA Appearance, Almost Fighting A Homeless Man and More
You act, sing, write for others. Is there anything you want to do that you haven't done yet?
Creatively, I want to start writing screenplays, doing things behind the camera. I don't know if people realize this, but I creatively see the whole picture before I write a song. I color the picture in my mind before I sit down and write what I see.
Has writing always been a passion for you or did you develop it over time?
It's always been a passion. My mother noticed the little writer in me. I used to write these stories and she would say how they are just fantastic.
You have this love for writing; you never wanted to be an author or journalist?
Outside of writing my music, I thought about putting my story into a book.
You mentioned writing an autobiography; what would the theme be?
It would revolve around patience. I feel like my life has a purpose. Just the way I got here, I feel like everyone in life has a purpose.
Your music career started young when you were in the church choir. A lot of people get their music start like that. Were you forced to be in it?
I was really young, so I don't remember if I was forced to do it. I have a "church family," and we always went to church. My mother always knew I could sing, so the choir was the thing to do. Eventually, I started to realize I had this talent.
Did your mother build your confidence?
Yes.
If your mother was the total opposite, do you think you'll be a musician?
Not at all. She would always make me sing around my family during Christmas time.
Tell me the emotions you had when you realized your first song, You should let me love you?
I was excited because I did it on my own. I wasn't looking for Beyonce's success; I just wanted to get the ball rolling. I feel like I have good music; I want the world to hear it.
When you record music now, do you look back to see how you evolved, or do you think you've been the same artist?
No, I defiantly haven't been that same artist. My experiences shaped me for sure, and I want my experiences to keep shaping me as an artist. I feel like I keep getting better.
My favorite song is Intentions. Can you tell me the process behind that song?
A lot of my songs have a double entendre, and I like to look below the surface. I believe whatever you think and put out in the universe is what it's going to be. With the song intentions, you have to go into every situation intentionally, with good intent.
